Our Commitment to the Environment
At Villas Sabai Jai, we believe that true luxury and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. Our villas are built almost entirely with natural materials and feature energy-efficient building technology designed to minimise waste of natural resources.
Koh Tao is a small island with limited freshwater and electricity generated by local generators. We take this responsibility seriously, and every decision — from construction materials to daily operations — is guided by our commitment to preserving the island's extraordinary natural beauty for generations to come.
What We Do
Solar Power
Solar panels are installed on all three villas, reducing our reliance on the island's diesel generators and lowering our carbon footprint.
Natural Building Materials
Our villas are constructed using concrete, local island stone, reused wood from old houses in northern Thailand, and traditional thatched roofs.
Energy Efficiency
Only AA-class electric appliances, keycard systems that automatically switch off electricity when you leave, LED lighting throughout, and an energy-efficient air-source heat pump in Eagle Villa.
Water Conservation
Low-consumption toilets and rainwater collection tanks help us use the island's limited freshwater supply responsibly.
Waste Reduction
Bulk dispensers for toiletries replace single-use plastic bottles. Recycling bins for cans, glass, paper, plastic, and food waste are provided throughout.
Reclaimed Teak Furniture
All wooden furniture is handcrafted from reclaimed old teak wood sourced from northern Thailand, giving new life to beautiful materials.
A Note to Our Guests
Since Koh Tao has limited freshwater and electricity is produced by local generators on the island, we kindly ask you to use water and electricity carefully during your stay.
Please don't use more water than needed and always switch off the air conditioning when not needed and when leaving the house. Together, we can help protect this beautiful island.
