Koh Tao — meaning "Turtle Island" in Thai — is a small, jewel-like island in the Gulf of Thailand, renowned worldwide for its spectacular diving, pristine beaches, and extraordinary marine life. It was here, on the rugged southern cape of the island, that the dream of Villas Sabai Jai was born.
A Name With Meaning
The name "Sabai Jai" is a Thai phrase that translates beautifully to "happy and comfortable" — a phrase that perfectly encapsulates the spirit and intention behind the property. The founders envisioned a place where guests could truly leave the world behind, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of Koh Tao while enjoying the highest levels of comfort and service.
Designed for the Setting
The property was developed with an extraordinary sensitivity to its surroundings. Perched on a private cape between the pristine beaches of Tian Og and Sai Daeng, the three villas — Eagle, Gecco, and Turtle — were each designed to maximise the spectacular 180° views over the Gulf of Thailand and Shark Bay. The southwestern orientation was carefully chosen to ensure guests can experience both the quiet magic of sunrise and the blazing drama of sunset from their own private pools.

Meet Tom
Tom arrived on Koh Tao in 2007 and has been part of the island's diving community ever since. In 2022 he took over Villas Sabai Jai, bringing that same passion for the island to hospitality — running it together with his family and a dedicated local team.
